The Lighthouse

Photobucket

Surely, your Word searches me out when I am in troubled waters.
Your divine beacon shines through the fog of my disgrace
to give my spirit new hope, new joy, new life.

Your Word, Jesus Christ, is a strong and mighty tower,
a lighthouse that stands strong, steady, and sure amidst troubled waters.
Your voice floats over the waves of my being,
giving strength as it travels until in mighty crescendos
it cascades over the polluted shores of my sinful soul,
cleansing each sin in its wake,
and speaking peace and calm to a troubled sea of thoughts, angsts, and emotions.
I turn and walk towards the sunset leaving each empty shell of remorse
on His shore of forgetfulness.

The seas have lifted up, LORD,
   the seas have lifted up their voice;
the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
Mightier than the thunder of the great waters,
mightier than the breakers of the sea—
the LORD on high is mighty.

I long to be rescued from myself.

A repost from past pages.

Linking to imperfect prose and Simple Pleasures.

My simple pleasure this week is going back and rereading some imperfect prose I wrote once upon a time.

  10. I love the line, "Your Word searches me out..." Being that Jesus is the Word, I picture Him truly searching for me, as my heart wanders all over the place some days. And then, it also makes me conjure up how He finds me as I read the Bible in the early morning hours -- presenting to me the very verses that will calm my restless heart.

  11. What a great reminder that truth and rescuing is found in the pages of God's Word. God intended His word to bless us and we will be when we partake. Thank you...this reads like a challenge to run to Him in troubled times and I will accept. :o)

  13. It sounded quite perfect to me, Dianne, but I agree that re-reading past prose can be a simple pleasure, although in my case, it usually produces a bit of pain. LOL!

Lovely writing here, though. Rich with meaning.

  15. Absolutely breathtaking - both the words and photo. It is truly amazing how many different perfect analogies there are for the God's Word and the saving grace of Jesus.

Every once in a while, I go back and read some of my own "imperfect prose" as well. I should do it more often!

  19. When I was young, I oftened wondered if God could see me through the smoke of all my sin. This expresses the reassurance of His love so perfectly.
