Evidence That Demands A Verdict!

Photobucket

I'm sorry but I belly-laughed when I saw this little guy. And I have looked at him several times today and it produces a laugh every time. Before I advance any further, I just want to say, this little creature and plenty more like him can be seen over at Anita Johnson's blog. I am providing the link right here. She is an amazing photographer and I can't thank her enough for giving me permission to post this on my blog today.

The reason I laugh is this: If this coneflower were cordoned off as a crime scene for having had pollen removed and this little guy was any where near the vicinity, he would be pronounced guilty, even before his trial. There is plenty of evidence that demands a verdict and I say he is GUILTY of pollinating in the first degree.

Almost the instant I looked at him, this thought came to mind: When you go to the source, you invariably come away with the evidence of it.

When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD. from Exodus 34:29

Moses--yes, Moses came to mind. Maybe I can get Anita to name this little guy Moses.

What in our life today would convict us red-handed of going to THE source?--a radiant face, a light in our eyes, a hope that passes human understanding, love, joy, peace, patience, self-control, gentleness, kindness, goodness, meekness, wisdom, a joyful heart?

Psalm 19 states the importance of God's Word upon us:

7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.

8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.

And when we let God's Spirit control us this will be the evidence:

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. from Galatians 5 NIV

I long for there to be enough evidence to prove me guilty of spending time with Him, basking in His presence. I want to look like that little guy in the photo above and I want to spread a little of this evidence everywhere I go.

P.S. Oh, and one last thing, my apologies to Josh McDowell for the post title. My warped sense of humor just couldn't resist it!

  1. All the natural processes that God has made to keep the world going is amazing. How can people see creation and reject the Creator?

  2. Dianne...I absolutely LOVE this post. So true! When we spend time with the Lord, it does SHOW and when we neglect that time...that shows too! Thanks for a beautiful reminder.
Thanks also for your kind remarks about my blog design and title. I took the picture in Hawaii, but the design was done by Stacey at A Measure of Grace...you can see her blog in my blog list. She is a friend of mine and when I first got started I asked her some questions. She gave me several suggestions for a title...Me Myself and Mercy was one of the suggestions and it just seems to fit. Without His mercy...I am nothing!
    Have a blessed day!

  3. I loved that photo too! Anita amazes me. ~ When we were going through some of my parent's things we found this Josh McDowell book. (I think sometimes that you and I are on the same wavelength!) We pulled it out of the box with plans to read it. ~ Grace and peace!

  4. Wonderful beautiful post today,
    Dianne. Moses it is!!
I hope the evidence that would
convict me of having been with
Jesus would be all the things
    mentioned, but especially that
    I loved others.
    Love you!

  5. Thank you, Dianne, for this post which causes me to pause and reflect on just how much evidence there truly is in my life to convict me of being a Follower of Abba.

  6. So true, we need to shine Christ love and light so others can see the evidence. We can only have that if we ourselves bask in his word and presence.

Ha, ha what a cute greedy little bee!

  7. we used to listen to a brother duo,
the o'neal twins, who sang a song
with the line, "case dismissed, case
    dismissed! saved by grace!"

    our kids loved it. :)

this is such a clever and convicting
    post!

    blessings,

  8. What a perfect post...now I can see why the picture jumped out at you! I have always loved the story of Moses and how his face revealed that he had seen God. It is my prayer that people will see in me what God has done in my life...if only I could wear it like the little bee! I love your post today too...I'm surprised I'm not familiar with Isaiah 56:3...or maybe I conveniently forget it and take things back into my own hands...waiting...not fun. But I will try to be His hands and feet for Him today.
From one old jar of clay to another...have a great day! :-)
