book satchel--aka kindle

NEW UPDATE: Oh, wow! The Kindle may be the death of our budget. I am finding myself reading so much more since I received it.

I've read these books in the last few months:

Dear John

Going Rogue

The Wedding

The Notebook

The Last Song

A Walk to Remember

A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity

Same Kind of Different as Me

THE TWO BEST IN MY OPINION: A Walk to Remember and Same Kind of Different As me

UPDATE: My book satchel now carries only one thing in it. It is called a Kindle and I am in heaven. My husband got it for me for Christmas and it is more than awesome. It will hold up to 1500 books and you can download them from Amazon from anywhere in the world. Some of them only cost 2 or 3 dollars and I haven't purchased any over $10. The whole series of Anne of Green Gables was only .99cents. Unbelievable.

Through Gates of Splendor--the story of Jim Elliott, the missionary to the Auca Indians. This was written by his wife, Elisabeth. A movie, The End of the Spear, was released a few years ago and is about this incredible adventure of love and sacrifice. I read this book for the first time over 40 years ago and it has been a life-defining book for me.

Reader's Digest--the magazine-yep, you can download magazines also.

Pride & Prejudice

The New Oxford American Dictionary

The Scarlet Letter

The One Year Bible, New Living Translation

Dear John by Nicholas Sparks

Holy Bible, NIV

Gone With the Wind

The Anne of Green Gables (the whole series)

A Bold, Fresh Piece of Humanity

Oh how I loved my red plaid book satchel. And every time I got a new one (which was rare) I got the exact same color. It was hard to beat. Come to think about it, it may have been my only choice. LOL

You can only place so many books in a satchel so these are the ones I would choose to carry with me wherever I go

the Bible

The Heavenly Man by Brother Yun

The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom

Something More by Catherine Marshall

Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ by Madame Jeanne Guyon

Epicenter by Joel Rosenberg

Through Gates of Splendor by Elisabeth Elliott

  1. Is the 1500 book capacity enough???

I think you might be my daughter...or at least her kindred spirit. She shuts herself up in the bathroom with a toothbrush and a book and we don't see her again for an hour. Strangely, her teeth don't look any cleaner.
